three weeks in, two weeks without wine
at this halfway point, I thought I'd share a few things I've learnt in my time in FNQ:
- that red dust gets into errythang and is impossible to get out
- you can survive on a diet of mostly carbs, eggs and tuna
- life is alright without wine or netflix (or menulog)
- there is a fruit called black sapote and it tastes like chocolate pudding
- it can get real spooky in a remote community at night, especially after local elders have told you about little hairy men and black magic
- you can't judge a young mum by what you think you see, I have met 21yos with mortgages, full-time awesome jobs and a family
- watching star trek: the next generation straight after werk is the best thing ever (no, srsly)
that is all.
tomorrow I am off to sample a FRENCH PATISSERIE right here in cooktown. you jelly?
